On the ball, the two action buttons divide low and high play. One button sends a low pass toward a teammate or drives the ball in the direction of goal, with the directional pad helping aim. The other produces a higher pass or a lob when no teammate is lined up. Because the view is diagonal, judging the angle takes a few possessions. Pass earlier than you would in a straight side view and watch where the receiving player is moving. Holding the ball too long invites a challenge, and rebuilding an attack from deep inside your own half can take time.
Defending asks you to switch to the useful player, close the gap, and choose when to slide. A tackle can win the ball cleanly, but mistiming it may produce a foul, a yellow card, or a red card. Penalties are included, and both fouls and offsides can be switched on or off in the options. Leaving them enabled gives matches a fuller rule set; turning them off creates a looser game while you learn the unusual pitch angle. League mode takes a different approach. You join an eight-team competition and play the other sides twice, so consistency matters more than surviving one bracket. A draw that feels disappointing in a knockout match can still be useful over a full table. These modes also change which teams you face and how much a single mistake matters. Start with Exhibition to understand movement and passing, try Playoffs for a shorter campaign, and save League or Tournament for a longer session.
Several match options let you shape the pace. Team selection is only the beginning: you can adjust rules and examine the starting lineup before play. During a match, the pause menus provide useful summaries, including the score, shots and saves, possession, and disciplinary events. Those numbers help explain why a match feels one-sided. If you are barely shooting, the problem is probably chance creation rather than finishing; if possession is low, shorter passes may be safer than repeated long balls.
The first few games can feel demanding because the active player does not do the work automatically. Make deliberate switches on defense, approach the ball carrier from the correct diagonal, and do not expect every pass to be collected without positioning the receiver. Near goal, create an angle before shooting instead of pressing the attack button from directly behind a defender. Once the view becomes natural, the large field supports patient build-up and recognizable phases of play.
This is best approached as a measured football game rather than a frantic scoring contest. Learn the geometry, keep your shape, and use the rules menu to set the amount of realism you want.
